
Statement of Purpose
The purpose of the OSA Fundraising & Special Events Committee is to organize and support fundraising
efforts that help the Online Service Area carry the message to the still-suffering addict. We host and
facilitate fundraising events, assist other OSA committees with fundraising activities for their
initiatives, and work collaboratively across the Online Service Area to ensure our efforts align with the
needs of the fellowship.
Duties & Responsibilities:
▪ Plans and coordinates a minimum of three fundraising events each year to
support the Online Service Area (such as marathons, games, Globathon, etc.)
▪ Collaborates with the Unity Committee on the Celebrate Around the World
event.
▪ Submits committee decisions for OSA approval when appropriate (via the Chair).
▪ Works with the Public Information (PI) Committee to promote events and
fundraising activities.
▪ Designs new fundraising merchandise and coordinates with the designated web
servant (as needed) to publish items in the OSA Online Store in support of
fundraising efforts.
▪ Coordinates the selection and distribution of giveaway and sales items used to
support fundraising efforts.
Committee Structure
Chair
Suggested requirements:
▪ Two years of continuous sobriety.
▪ One year of active service in OSA
▪ Two-year commitment.
▪ Has worked the 12 steps and has a Working knowledge of the 12 traditions
Duties & Responsibilities:
▪ Votes only in the event of a tie.
▪ Chairs committee meetings and prepares the agenda.
▪ Attends OSA Business Meetings.
▪ Provides a verbal report at the OSA Business Meeting and submits a written
report to OSA communications platforms at least one week prior.
▪ Serves as administrator for committee subgroups on OSA communication
platforms.
▪ Manages committee correspondence through the official committee email.
▪ Coordinates all fundraising and special event activities within the committee.
▪ Strives to have a working knowledge of the Twelve Concepts, the World Service
Manual, OSA Bylaws, and the OSA Service Manual and Robert’s Rules of Order.
▪ Works with the committee to actively recruit members as needed.
Vice Chair
Suggested requirements:
▪ One year of continuous sobriety
▪ Six months of active service in OSA
▪ One year commitment
Duties & Responsibilities:
▪ Assists with coordinating F&SE activities within the Committee.
▪ Serves as administrator for committee subgroups on OSA communication
platforms.
▪ Perform the duties of the Chair when the Chair is absent.
▪ Assumes all duties and responsibilities of the Chair if the position becomes
vacant.
Secretary
Suggested requirements:
▪ Six months of continuous sobriety.
▪ Three months of active online service in C.A.
▪ One-year commitment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
▪ Records accurate minutes for each committee meeting.
▪ Maintains records of election dates for committee service positions.
▪ Handles committee correspondence on Groups.io (as delegated by the Chair).
▪ Uploads meeting minutes and other relevant documents to committee subgroup(s) on
OSA communication platforms.
Merchandise Lead (keeping this as a placeholder as we work through the semantics of
the store)
Suggested requirements:
▪ One-year commitment.
▪ One year of continuous sobriety.
▪ Service experience in online C.A. meetings.
Duties & Responsibilities:
▪ Leads product design for merchandise offered in the OSA Store and works with
the Webmaster (or designated web servant) to upload items as needed.
▪ Ensures merchandise aligns with C.A. Traditions and approved use of the C.A.
logo and branding.
